The Three Kings is a light-hearted look at what we think we know about them – how many of them were there, were they men or women or both, or actually kings? Where did they come from? Why do they feature in our Nativity plays and crib scenes, when the Bible makes no mention of them being there? And where did the idea that they were wise come from? After all, divulging the timing of the birth of Jesus to homicidal Herod, prompting him to order the massacre of the innocents in Bethlehem – well, that wasn’t too smart was it? Tony Rawlins, an accredited Arts Society Lecturer for ten years, started his career in advertising as a mail boy in the J. Walter Thompson agency, graduating through the training system to become an account director. He subsequently worked in a number of agencies before setting up on his own in 1985 where he handled primarily Guinness advertising in Africa and the Caribbean. He remains active as a consultant in the industry, but more recently has concentrated on philanthropic projects, such as producing a film in the rural villages of Nigeria for the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He also completed a sanitation project in Haiti after it was devastated by Hurricane Matthew in 2016.
