Formed in Cambridge in 2016 and now based in London, Ugly are a six-piece outfit comprising Sam Goater, Harrison Jones, Harry Shapiro, Tom Lane, Jasmine Miller-Sauchella, and Theo Guttenplan. The group blend sacred choral harmonies, sprawling post-rock, and 1960s/70s folk-rock into a distinctive art-rock sound where all six voices shape the music. Their acclaimed 2024 EP, Twice Around the Sun, showcased their expansive writing across tracks like "Sha" and "The Wheel". Having toured alongside Black Country, New Road and built a formidable live reputation through sold-out London shows, Ugly continue to draw praise for their inventive, multi-layered sets.
