The Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague brings Vivaldi's The Four Seasons to Destiny Church Shawlands on Glasgow's Southside on Sunday 8 November 2026 at 7.30pm, the closing concert of its autumn 2026 tour of the UK. The concert is performed live by a chamber ensemble of the Prague-based orchestra, with the young Czech violinist Matteo Hager as soloist. At the heart of the evening are Vivaldi's four violin concertos – Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter – the most popular set of pieces in the whole Baroque repertoire, framed by four more favourites of the string repertoire: Mozart's Eine kleine Nachtmusik, Bach's Air on the G String, Pachelbel's Canon in D and Handel's Water Music. Destiny Church's Main Hall on Pollokshaws Road is a spacious modern auditorium in the heart of Shawlands, with comfortable seating, level access and good sightlines throughout. It is a few minutes' walk from Shawlands and Pollokshaws East railway stations and well served by buses from the city centre. The orchestra brings the warmth of the Czech string tradition – from Dvořák and Smetana to today – to an evening of the best-loved music ever written for strings.
