The Beginners Glass Fusing 6 Week Course will commence on 12 January 2027 at Sarah Brown Glass in Tewkesbury. Participants will explore various techniques to create their own glasswork over the six-week period. The course fee is £355.00.
Looking for a new hobby? Spend 6 weeks exploring glass fusing! You will try a series of techniques to create your very own glasswork.
If you’re looking for a new hobby, or would love to see a bit more about the possibilities of glass fusing, this is the course for you!
Over the course of 6 weeks, I will introduce a series of techniques that you can use either by themselves or combine together to have a great grounding of how to make your very own fused glass pieces.
Each week we will make pieces using an individual technique and learn how different temperatures in the kiln can affect the outcome. We will then in the last 2 weeks, make a final piece that can use a combination of your new found skills.
Techniques we will learn include glass cutting, using metals in the glass, how you can create a relief design by carving in a different material, and how to apply powders and enamels to make your own pictures.
After each session I will fire your pieces, ready for the following weeks class – it’s always exciting to come each week to your masterpiece from the week before.
The 6 weeks cost £325 for tuition, firing, most materials (plenty to complete the course, but there are some upgrade options) tea, coffee and biscuits.
The 6 week course will run on consecutive Tuesdays for 6 weeks, 12th January -16th February. The sessions are running from 7 - 9.30pm.
This course is ideal for complete beginners or those who have previously attended another class but would like to learn more.
What can I do after the course? With your new found skills, you can move onto learning further techniques in the intermediate course, then why not join glass club to realise your own projects with likeminded others and the use of my equipment, and, even better, no need to fill your kitchen table with glass projects!
This class is suitable for anyone over the age of 14, however under 18’s must be accompanied by a participating adult. Flat, closed toe shoes must be worn, e.g.: trainers, and long hair tied back as unfortunately without them you will not be able to take part.
