Samhain is the turning of the year — the old Celtic festival marking the end of harvest and the beginning of the dark half, when the boundary between this world and the other was thought to thin. It is not Halloween dressed up. Fire, food, craft and the gathering in of the harvest are the point.

On Sunday 8 November, Wicklow Naturally marks it properly at Powerscourt Distillery.

Over 25 Wicklow artisan food and drink producers showcase the quality of the bounty produced here in the Garden County.

One building, five hours, butchery, BBQ, cheese making, baking, blacksmith, crafters, brewers, distillers, wine and mead making and everything within a few steps of everything else. There is no entry fee — attendance is by pre-booking only, because there is a set number of places.
