Spurn Bat Walks are scheduled for 16 October 2026 at the Spurn Discovery Centre in Grimsby. The context describes a guided family-friendly walk around Kilnsea in search of elusive residents. Tickets range from £9.98 to £16.37.
Join us for a family friendly guided walk around Kilnsea, in search of some of our more elusive residents.
Discover Spurn and Kilnsea
Under the big, wild skies at Spurn, there are plenty of adventures to be had! Join us for a guided walk, in search of our elusive nocturnal residents.
Learn more about Britain's amazing bat species on an hour and a half walk with our helpful guides. You will learn how to use a bat detector and put this into action, becoming a bat detective. You will learn about the different frequencies bats use and how we are able to identify species through sound alone.
Right light torches will be provided, but if you feel more comfortable bringing your own torche then you are welcome to do so.
Please be aware we cover areas of uneven ground and the event takes place in low light.
What to bring/wear
Dress for the weather (it can be very cold and exposed at Spurn, so bring plenty of layers) and wear sturdy footwear.
Toilets and catering
There are toilets, including an accessible toilet, at Spurn Discovery Centre. The Spurn Discovery Centre cafe is open 10am until 4pm (hot food served until 3pm)
Where to meet
Please meet our guide at the Spurn Discovery Centre.
Parking
£5 per car for all day parking. This money goes directly back into managing and protecting Spurn National Nature Reserve. There is free parking for Wildlife Trust members who display their up-to-date membership card on their dashboard
