A 4,000 mile walk around the coastline of England and Wales.
More than 10 years after retiring from a career in the oil industry, Brendan Hemming decided, in his seventies, to raise money for charity by walking 4,000 miles around the coastlines of England and Wales.
Battling injuries, horrible weather, crumbling cliffs, and paths that were often steep, overgrown, or very muddy, Brendan always found a ray of sunshine after each storm. And that sunshine often came from the people he met.
From helpful hosts and friendly strangers to fellow walkers and unexpected friends, each encounter left its mark. Along the coast Brendan discovered that almost everyone has a story worth hearing - and that kindness and generosity are often found where you least expect them. And as he admits at the end of the book, the experience has had a major effect on him.
Books will be on sale at the event and Brendan will be happy to sign them for you.
