Hilary Jones is vice-chair of The Milestone Society a charity that seeks to conserve our wayside heritage of milestones, boundary markers and traditional fingerposts.

In this talk she will look at how we find our way around, now and in the past. Exploring the development of Turnpike Roads, she will explain their importance for milestones and look at the variety of designs across the country. You will discover how The Milestone Society charity helps protect our roadside heritage with local examples from the Harrogate area and across North Yorkshire featured.
