About This Event

The Pannal Heritage Walk is a free event held in the ancient village of Pannal, Harrogate. It begins at 12:00 on 12 September 2026 from St Robert's Church. The walk explores an area that is partly a Conservation Area.

A heritage walk with a difference around the ancient village of Pannal, part of which is a Conservation Area.

Hosted with expertise - and humour - by Anne Smith. Anne is a long-time resident of Pannal, and a book author and blogger on the village. The walk will uncover stories of former residents and describe the heritage of the ancient buildings. It will discuss how the village got its name, and how Pannal Hall 'moved' over time. We'll talk about Betty Lupton, Queen of the Harrogate Wells, at her last resting place. There'll be time to admire The Old Village School, Crimple Valley, and also St Robert's Church, the Mother Church before Harrogate came into existence, and the headquarters in 1318 of Robert the Bruce's chief lieutenants.

Description supplied by the event organiser.
