About This Event

Saturday 19 December 2026 | 5pm–7pm Afrit Nebula make music that travels well beyond conventional jazz. Formed in St Leonards-on-Sea in 2014, the trio have spent more than a decade exploring the meeting points of avant-garde jazz, progressive rock, Middle Eastern music and Afro-Cuban rhythm . Their sound is built around interplay and improvisation—shifting from deep grooves and vivid textures to moments of free-flowing musical invention. The group’s latest album, What Next? , is their fourth release. Its adventurous range includes original compositions and reimagined musical traditions, reflecting the band’s curiosity and refusal to settle into one style. At Barnaby’s Lounge, Elaine Edwards brings saxophones, flute and keyboards; Ken Edwards adds bass guitar and vocals; and Yair Katz contributes drums, percussion, guitar and vocals. The trio have also created work with dancers and filmmakers, including Sleepwalk: The Dream of Lady Macbeth , a multimedia project performed in 2025 and 2026. Expect a live set of bold rhythms, shifting soundscapes and fearless improvisation—music for listeners who enjoy discovering where a performance might go next. Join Afrit Nebula for live music in Hastings at Barnaby’s Lounge, an independent listening venue in the town centre. Winnie’s Pizza Co. will be serving New York-style pizza, small plates, dips and more from 12pm . Saturday 19 December | Music from 5pm Music contribution: £6 , supporting the live musicians.
