Who is it for?

Anyone who wants to set up their own social events and meet new people, plus staff and family members who support others to have an active social life.

What to expect

Friendly group discussions, guest talks, and an introduction to the Friendship Matters worksheets and checklists.

What this workshop is about

The workshop supports people with learning disabilities and autistic people to plan and host their own social activities, such as meeting for coffee or beer, going for walks or sharing hobbies.

People learn simple steps to plan events, choose what they enjoy, invite others, and feel confident welcoming people along. With support from family or staff, people are encouraged to take the lead and create their own social opportunities.

What we can’t do

Life Skills can’t set up social groups for you. The focus is on working together with your family and support at home.

The Friendship Matters Workshop helps people feel more confident, independent, and in control of their social lives—bringing people together and helping friendships grow.
