Join us at the Focus North Conference 2026 as we challenge assumptions, amplify young voices and shine a light on the real opportunities shaping the North Highlands.

The day will begin with an hour of informal networking from 9am, giving attendees the chance to connect over tea and coffee before the main conference programme starts at 10am.

Our annual conference returns with a clear focus on changing perceptions - of opportunity, of young people, and of the pathways available to build a future in the North Highlands.

Across the region, major projects and investments are progressing at pace. While they may be developing on different timelines, together they represent unprecedented potential for our economy, workforce and communities. This year’s conference will explore what that opportunity really looks like on the ground, what’s coming next, and how we make it visible, accessible and meaningful - especially for young people.

The day will be interactive, honest and future‑focused, bringing together employers, partners, educators and young people to reflect, challenge thinking and identify practical ways forward. Expect insightful presentations, thought‑provoking discussions, youth‑led questioning and plenty of time to connect with others who care about the region’s future.

Highlights will include:

Changing perceptions of opportunity – Hear directly from developers and key projects on current progress, timelines and what opportunities are emerging for local people and businesses.

Changing perceptions of what's here – Discover the strength of the local supply chain, infrastructure and hidden expertise through film, presentations and panel discussion.

Changing perceptions of pathways –Insightful sessions exploring career journeys, confidence and progression, including survey results, live engagement and real examples from initiatives such as Minecraft, Powering Futures and work experience programmes.

Throughout the day, there will be audience Q&A, discussion opportunities and interactive elements, alongside time to connect with others who care about the region’s future.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided, with additional networking opportunities built into the programme.
