About This Event

Thèid mi Dhachaidh / I Will Go Home is a free, six-week workshop facilitated by Fèis Rois, set to take place on August 29 at Robertson House in Inverness from 10:30 am onwards. This engaging musical journey brings together harp players and singers to delve into the rich tapestry of ancient Highland Gaelic songs. Participation is open to all interested individuals, with no registration or additional costs required. This unique opportunity allows participants to immerse themselves in the haunting beauty and cultural significance of these traditional melodies.

Hosted by Fèis Rois, this six-week course brings together harp players and singers interested in performing ancient Highland Gaelic songs. Taught by traditional Gaelic singer Christina Stewart and Bill Taylor, clarsach tutor, the course invites participants of all ages to join – from P6 to adult. No previous experience of singing in Gaelic is necessary. Harp players at all levels are invited, except pure beginner, as are harps of all sizes and stringing materials. Alongside 800 years of our town, 2026 also marks 95 years of Clarsach Society, which was formed in Dingwall at the close of the 1931 National Mòd.

Places are free, but limited to eight harp players and eight singers. You will be expected to come along to the following sessions at Robertson House:

Sat 29 August, 10.30am – 12noon, Robertson House

Sat 5 September, 10.30am – 12noon, Robertson House

Sat 12 September, 10.30am – 12noon, Robertson House

Sat 19 September, 10.30am – 12noon, Robertson House

Sat 26 September, 10.30am – 12noon, Robertson House

Sun 4 October, final session -10.30am -12noon and public sharing at 1pm, Robertson House
