Equality in democracy: Overcoming barriers and improving political representation

Writer, academic and women's rights activist Dr Helen Pankhurst CBE, great-granddaughter of suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst and first Chancellor of the University of Suffolk will be in conversation with Lowestoft MP Jess Asato about improving political representation - past, present and future.

Jess will discuss her experience of being a woman in Parliament, including referencing her legal action against Elon Musk's xAI after its chatbot Grok created fake sexualised images and videos of her.

Open Lectures will take place on the University campus and at venues outside Ipswich throughout the year.

Doors will open at 5.30pm for a 6.00pm start. There will be refreshments available in the Waterfront Foyer before and afterwards. The event will last for approximately an hour and will include a Q&A session.
