An Awareness session focused on understanding the needs, beliefs and priorities of the Muslim community when supporting a loved one.
We are delighted to welcome Nurul Islam Chowdhury from Suffolk Mosque to deliver an awareness session focused on understanding the needs, beliefs and priorities of the Muslim community when supporting a loved one with a life-limiting illness.
This session will provide hospice staff and volunteers with an opportunity to gain greater insight into what is important to Muslim individuals and families during palliative and end-of-life care. Topics will include cultural and faith considerations, family involvement in care and decision-making, spiritual needs, and practices and traditions that may be important at the end of life and following death.
The aim of the session is to help us provide compassionate, culturally sensitive, and person-centred care, ensuring we are better equipped to support Muslim patients and their families at what can be one of the most significant times in their lives.
We encourage all colleagues with an interest in improving equity, inclusion, and culturally competent care to attend.
