Join Leigh for a character design workshop inspired by the work of Pyramid artist Alexander in our exhibition, The Magic Show!

This September, we are running a wide range of exciting creative workshops for all ages! The Magical Weekender coincides with the final weekend of our current Gallery exhibition, The Magic Show.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

This session with artist & Pyramid facilitator Leigh Bowser will focus on character design, inspired by the work of Alexander Holt (Alexanderverse).

Alexander Holt is a prolific illustrator who creates characters inspired by animated film and TV. His character collections have been based on many themes, including fairy tales, pirates, superheroes and space.

During the workshop, you will learn how to invent a character, develop their personality and narrative and draw them using Alexander's acrylic marker techniques.

All under 16s must be accompanied by an adult at all time. Caregivers are encouraged to book their own spot and take part in the workshop.

All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Henshaws & Pyramid to provide transport and payment to their facilitators and artists.

Ticket prices are on a sliding scale, so please donate as much as you are comfortable with.

If you are unable to take part in the workshop, but would like to support the session and provide a subsidised ticket for a young person, there is an option to make a donation on the ticket page.

ABOUT THE MAGIC SHOW

The Magic Show is a collaborative exhibition between Henshaws Arts and Crafts Centre & Pyramid, building on the success of previous exhibitions with disabled and neurodivergent artists at the Mills. The exhibition is an immersive take-over of the Gallery, with artists from both groups responding to the theme of magic.

Opening times: Tuesday-Sunday, 10am-4pm. Closed on Mondays. FREE ENTRY

Workshop bookings can be cancelled and refunded up until 7 days before the scheduled start date. We regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the event date. Please note that Eventbrite’s booking fee is non-refundable.

If we need to cancel the event for any reason your ticket will be fully refunded.

ACCESS INFORMATION

The venue of this workshop is within the Finishing Room, which is accessed up a flight of stairs through the Gallery or via step free access through the Main Yard.

There are accessible toilets and baby change facilities on the same corridor as the Finishing Room.
