Explore weaving with paper threads with studio holder and expert weaver, David Fox.

With David Fox you’ll explore weaving paper threads on our historic Dobby Floor Looms.

You’ll be weaving on a paper warp already prepared and you can choose various paper wefts along with other wefts to insert into your warp. This workshop is about exploring the possibilities of weaving paper, creating samples and experimenting.

You’ll take your own woven paper piece home with you, which you can frame or use in a project.

This workshop is for an intermediate weaver. You must have woven on a floor or table loom before and know plain weave, and what a warp and a weft is.

Artist bio:

David Fox or known as Fox On The Sley is a hand-weaver and textile artist based in Sunny Bank Mills Red Lane Studios. His work plays with various yarns and material choices to create 3D sculptural or motif based woven textiles inspired by craftsmanship and our textile heritage. He has a close working relationship with Sunny Bank Mills Museum and Archive from running tours to the archive inspiring his work. David mainly weaves with paper yarn or steel mixes trying to create work that holds memory and is structural. He weaves on a Dobby Loom from the 1960s and other looms whisky creating work off the loom as well. He is also the textile technician at Bradford College and has supported textile students over the last 2 years.

Workshop and course bookings can be cancelled and refunded up until 7 days before the scheduled start date. As materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date. Please note that Eventbrite’s booking fee is non-refundable.
