Walk with Leeds Hotels & Venues Association in memory of Roger Clark-Coates, raising money for Cancer Research UK.

For the past two years, hospitality colleagues from across Leeds have come together on a Friday in autumn for the LHVA Walk for Wellbeing. No targets, no rules, no pressure. Just a walk, some fresh air, a good chat and, more often than not, a pub at the end of it.

That walk was Roger Clark-Coates's idea. When the Leeds Hotels and Venues Association looked at joining a national wellbeing initiative a few years ago, Roger asked the question that stuck: "Isn't it just a bloody walk?" He was right, and the LHVA walk has been exactly that ever since.

Following Roger's passing in the spring, and with the support of his family, this year's walk becomes The Walk for Roger: a walk for wellbeing, friendship and remembrance. We are delighted that Roger's family will be walking with us.

Supporting Cancer Research UK

We are raising money for Cancer Research UK, a cause very close to the hearts of Roger and his family. We are suggesting a donation of £75 per hotel or venue team, raised however you like: a staff collection, a team challenge, a bake sale or a contribution from the business. Individual donations of any size are very welcome too.

Registration for the walk is free. Every donation goes straight to Cancer Research UK, and UK taxpayers giving personally can add Gift Aid at no extra cost.

How it works

Walk as far as you wish, at your own pace. Join for part of the route or all of it. Bring colleagues, friends, family and your dog. There is no competition and nobody is keeping score.
