About This Event

This week, a 4-week course titled "Storytelling Through Print and Stitch" is taking place at the Stitch-Up Studio in Meanwood Community Centre, Leeds. The event offers a unique exploration of stories, folklore, and tales using textile and print-making techniques, led by various performers.

THIS IS A 4 WEEK COURSE STARTING MONDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER 2026 FOR 4 WEEKS UNTIL 28TH SEPTEMBER

Join local artist Alice Burford for this enjoyable short course to explore folklore, tales and storytelling through textiles and print making techniques.

The sessions will include learning lino printing and embroidery to create prints and stitched illustrations from folktales.

All materials are included and you will leave with your completed pieces and all the skills and confidence to carry on making at home.

The course is suitable for complete beginners or those wanting to refresh their skills.

Hot drinks and biscuits are included.

To ensure this Summer Crafts Course is accessible to everyone we have made it Pay What You Can for the 3 week Course. We have suggested £30 to help cover costs but if this is not affordable for you then please input what you can. (When booking, please add a donation of however much you can afford for the 3-week course). Any donation is welcome. Stitch-Up CIC is a social enterprise and any profits we make are reinvested straight back into delivering our creative community projects supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged people in Leeds to learn new skills and improve wellbeing.

We will also be using this time to gain feedback from participants about what creative activities they would like to see going forward at Meanwood Community Centre so all feedback is greatly appreciated.

There is ample parking available at the Community Centre Car Park. If you cannot fit in the Car Park, please park on the main part of Stainbeck Avenue, with consideration to the residents please do not park in the cul-de-sac.

The Stitch-Up Studio is to the rear of the Community Centre. Once you arrive in reception please follow the signs for Stitch-Up.

* Please do not attend the studio if you are feeling unwell, have Covid 19 or have experienced any symptoms of Covid 19 in the 7 days prior to attending or have been in contact with anyone else who has had symptoms.
