NIGEL BIGGAR, CBE, is the Lord Biggar of Castle Douglas, Regius Professor Emeritus of Moral Theology at Oxford University, and a Conservative peer in the House of Lords. Described as “one of the leading living Western ethicists” (John Gray, New Statesman, 2020), Biggar was appointed Commander of the British Empire “for services to higher education” in the 2021 Queen’s Birthday Honours list and named one of Prospect magazine’s Top Thinkers of 2024. His books include The New Dark Age: Why Liberals must Win the Culture Wars, Reparations: Slavery and the Tyranny of Imaginary Guilt, Colonialism: A Moral Reckoning, and In Defence of War.
