General Information

Join AKA CIC for a weekend in Eryri / Snowdonia to climb Yr Wyddfa / Snowdon, Wales’ highest mountain at 1,085 m / 3,560 ft, via the Llanberis Path.

Led by qualified Mountain Leaders and supported by the AKA team, you’ll share the trail with our friendly, mixed-ability community. This is a challenging but non-technical hike, suitable for people with moderate fitness, determination and a willingness to support each other along the way.

Whether you’re joining us for the challenge, the community, the cause, or all three, this event is about coming together to do something positive while supporting AKA’s work with young people and local communities.

Why We’re Fundraising

This event is part of AKA CIC’s fundraising work to help us reopen our youth club and continue creating safe spaces for young people.

The funds raised will help us provide positive role models, enriching activities, developmental opportunities and experiences that support young people to grow in confidence, build new skills and feel connected to their community.

There is no individual fundraising target for this event. Instead, we have one shared AKA JustGiving page for the whole community.

If you are able to fundraise, we’d be grateful if you could share the page with family, friends, colleagues and sponsors. You can also collect donations yourself and then donate the total through the group page.

Every share, donation and contribution helps us get closer to reopening safe, positive spaces for young people.

Walk Details

Hike date: Saturday 29th August 2026

Route: Llanberis Path

Distance / ascent: Approximately 14.5–16 km / 9–10 miles round-trip, with around 975 m / 3,199 ft of ascent

Summit height: 1,085 m / 3,560 ft

Difficulty: Challenging but non-technical

Timing: Allow 6–8 hours of walking, including breaks

Kit List Overview

You will need sturdy walking boots, waterproofs, warm layers, a 30 L rucksack, and plenty of food and water for the day.

We have a small supply of spare kit available to loan on a first-come, first-served basis. A full kit list will be emailed after sign-up.

Ticket Options1) Hike-Only Ticket

Price: £60

This ticket includes everything listed under “What Every Ticket Includes”.

You will arrange your own travel, food and any overnight accommodation.

Please arrive at the Snowdon Mountain Railway station forecourt by 08:30 on Saturday 29th August 2026.

Fundraising is optional. There is no individual fundraising target, but participants are encouraged to share the group JustGiving page or collect donations where possible to support AKA’s work.

2) Travel + Accommodation + Hike Package

Price: £190

This package includes:

Return minibus travel from Phoenix Park & Ride, Nottingham, NG8 6AS

Two-night stay, Friday and Saturday, at YHA Llanberis, Llwyn Celyn, Llanberis, Caernarfon, Gwynedd, LL55 4SR

Shared hostel accommodation

Room allocations managed by AKA, with mixed rooms if required

Breakfast on both mornings

Lunch provided for the hike day only

Evening meals are not included. There are local cafés, takeaways and shops nearby.

What Every Ticket Includes

Guided ascent led by professional Mountain Leaders

AKA support team on the day, including briefing, pacing and safety oversight

Route management and cut-off timings for group safety

Environmental contribution to local path upkeep

Eventbrite fees absorbed in the ticket price, with no extra fee added at checkout

Registration

After purchasing your ticket, you’ll receive a registration form.

Please complete this within 7 days, or immediately if booking after 22nd August 2026. Without a completed registration form, you won’t be able to attend.

The form collects emergency contacts, relevant medical information and any kit-loan requests so we can keep everyone safe on the hill.

16–17s are welcome if accompanied by a participating parent or guardian

Reaching the summit is not guaranteed. Leaders may turn the group back if weather, conditions, timings or safety require it
