Tuesday 6 October 2026 2pm to 4pm Student Life Building, Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool, UK Student Life Building - Directions | Liverpool John Moores University (https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/study/visit-us/directions/student-life-building) About the event: Join us for a special in-person HOPESHOW marking the launch of Maria Roberts’ Churchill Fellowship report: More Than a Story: Gathering Suicide Lived and Living Experience with Safety and Purpose The report presents findings from Maria’s Churchill Fellowship research in the UK and Australia. It explores how organisations involve people with lived and living experience of suicide and what is needed to make that involvement safer, more meaningful and connected to a clear purpose. The HOPESHOW is a national series led by Professor Pooja Saini with the central aim of ending stigma around suicide Roadshow - Grassroots Suicide Prevention (https://prevent-suicide.org.uk/roadshow/) Through a filmed panel discussion, the event will explore how organisations can involve people with lived and living experience of suicide safely, meaningfully and with a clear purpose. It will also consider how lived and living experience can challenge stigma and influence suicide prevention research, policy, services and practice. The panel will bring together lived and living experience alongside perspectives from research, academia, public health, commissioning, national programmes and the voluntary sector. What to expect: • A welcome and introduction • A 45-minute panel discussion • 15 to 20 minutes for audience questions • Networking and light refreshments Who is this event for? The event is for anyone interested in suicide prevention or the meaningful involvement of lived and living experience, including people with lived and living experience, researchers, students, practitioners, service providers, commissioners, policy makers and voluntary and community organisations. Filming: Please note that this event will be filmed for the HOPESHOW podcast series. If you prefer not to be filmed, you will be able to opt out. Further details will be provided at the event. Booking: The event is free, with only 60 places are available. Advance booking is essential. If your plans change, please cancel your booking so that your place can be offered to somebody else. Content note: This event includes discussion of suicide, suicide prevention and lived and living experience. Audience participation is optional, and nobody will be asked to discuss their own experiences.
