Prof Kelvin To, Chairperson of the Department of Microbiology at the University of Hong Kong, will provide a brief history of infectious disease research in Hong Kong, from the 1880s to the 1990s, touching on how the Avian Influenza H5N1 outbreak and 2003 SARS affected Hong Kong, novel pathogen discoveries and their significance, and novel mechanistic insights in viral-host interactions over the last decade.
All staff within LSTM, LJMU and UoL are welcome to attend.
