A Chilterne Langley tour, offering a choice of 9 or 14 miles, will commence on 3 October 2026 from Euston in London. The tour will explore the Chiltern hills and the historical significance of the Plantagenet royal seat, with travel arrangements provided for participants.
Edward III's progeny means there's a bit of Plantagenet in many. So Eleanor de Bohun's demise this day in 1399 - daughter-in-law via his youngest Thomas of Woodstock - is reason enough for a jolly jaunt round the Plantagenet royal seat in Chiltern hills.
Something for everyone to explore their inner Plantagenet. A 9 miles circular ramble passing prince and palace in the Chilterns. And for those wanting a pacier afternoon, extension along the Grand Union Canal to bring you within range of a Tube journey home.
Outward Travel: Take the train departing 10.09 AM from London Euston to KING'S LANGLEY. With Groupsave or Network Card an off peak day single is £5.75 with Groupsave or Network card.
Return after 9 miles from KING'S LANGLEY to London is as above. Or a sample single Tube fare from WATFORD after 14 miles to Zone 1 is £5.30
Beforehand from 9.45 AM the organizer will be easy to spot near the ticket office in the station wearing yellow to act as a focal point for people arranging group tickets.
Walk start: 10.35 AM from Kings Langley rail station.
Bring a packed lunch. Pub stops for drinks.
*How to join?*
* The walk is entirely free of charge;
* You only arrange for your own travel and pub expenses;
* Understand our terms and conditions below (the "IMPORTANT" part);
* Understand how to stay safe outdoors, as you will be responsible for yourself. See our quick safety tips:

TRAVEL, ACCOMMODATION, INSURANCE
Although we provide detailed suggestions, each participant is expected to arrange their own travel - this gives everyone the freedom and choice. Anyone interested in travel or outdoor insurance should also arrange this on their own. As mentioned above we always take extreme precautions, but some people may still feel safer if covered.
As most of our trips are confirmed or postponed very close to the event date - heavily depending on the weather forecasts - we advise not to buy this until the last minute. People getting tickets from the same station are encouraged to meet early on the day to benefit from discounts such as GroupSave.
