The third talk in the WCCA series on the future of the architectural profession focusses on what clients want from architects. Drawing on their experience of working with architectural practices throughout their careers, our speakers will discuss how client expectations are changing and what the profession must do to remain relevant, trusted and valued.
Following the presentations, Helen Taylor, Scott Brownrigg will lead a discussion, inviting audience contribution.
The evening will conclude with drinks and informal networking in Temple Bar.
Our speakers:
Nicola Hawkins is a qualified architect with over 30 years experience, having delivered mixed-use developments in London for over 10 years. Her specialism is strategic lon-term value creation through planning, design, procurement and construction. Previously as Group Head of Design at Selfridges, she was responsible for all three phases of the Duke Street masterplan with David Chipperfield Architects. Nicole is passionate about place-making, customer experience and quality design with a sustainable approach. She is a member of the Circle Partnership, mentoring future female leaders in property and construction.
John Lovell, a chartered surveyor by training, established Lovell Consulting over 20 years ago, specialising in capital allowances. He is also the founder of Lovell Investments, a UK property investment company focussed on acquiring and redeveloping commercial buildings within London.
Ushma Samani is Principal Development Manager for Major Projects, Platform 4 (Network Rail's property development company). She is currently lead on London Liverpool Street transformation. Ushma is experienced in navigating the complex world of rail-adjacent development, leveraging relationships with the public and private sector to deliver successful and transformational schemes. Prior to joining Network Rail in 2018, she shaped Westfield Straford's pilot residential scheme.
