A regional health system delayed its $30M AI launch by six months to build the human architecture the technology required. It exceeded every board-set performance target eighteen months ahead of peers that deployed on schedule.
That trade is the one most organizations refuse, and the one this book makes the case for. The companies failing at AI transformation aren't moving too quickly. They are moving without building what the technology needs and watching a workforce adapt around the technology rather than with it.
Drawing on 25+ years of Fortune 100 consulting experience and his work as an executive coach and a professor at Northeastern University, Dr. Odom shares a human-centered model for the future of work to lead people through AI-driven change.
Change Optimized: Leading The Human Side of AI Transformation provides the architecture. Five diagnostic instruments that map readiness before deployment. Two governance frameworks for algorithmic bias and workforce transition. A four-phase implementation roadmap. A 15-item Quick Screener (Appendix B) that produces a readiness diagnosis in ten minutes, which the book recommends running before Chapter One.
Senior executives can build the case for human-readiness investment from the sequential argument. Heads of transformation facing a stalled deployment, a talent system that blocks mobility, or a culture that suppresses honest feedback can navigate directly to the relevant instrument. Faculty can use the case studies in Part Three as classroom material.
This book doesn't require technical AI expertise. It assumes the algorithm. It addresses the question the technical literature leaves unanswered: Once you have it, how do you build the human architecture that allows it to generate value?
