Slow down, get creative, and see nature from a different perspective in this beginner-friendly embroidery workshop. Working with two postcard-sized photographs taken at Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses, you’ll learn how simple embroidery stitches can be used to add colour, pattern and texture to an image. One photograph focuses on flowers and natural forms, while the other looks at the Greenhouses themselves, allowing you to experiment with plants, architecture, lines and space. We’ll start by learning a few basic stitches and patterns before stitching directly onto the photographs. You’ll also have the option to incorporate small fallen or found natural materials from around the garden, such as leaves, flowers and twigs, into your work. No previous embroidery experience is needed. By the end of the session, you’ll have your own embroidered postcard to take home, display or send to someone. The session will run for 2.5 hours and, weather permitting, we may sit outside and enjoy the summer surroundings of this green oasis in the city. All materials are provided and there will be free tea and biscuits available during the workshop. Plus our little bar will be open with organic wine (Wild & Lees), local beer (Brixton Brewery) and botanical cocktails – card payments only. This workshop will be led by design historian and maker Florencia Denti . Information Tickets: Standard price £35 / Concession £28 Running time: 2.5 hours Age recommendation: 14+ (under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult) If viewing on a phone please scroll to the bottom of the page to book. Ticket FAQ’s Getting to us & Access BPCG is in the middle of Brockwell Park, between the tennis courts and the walled gardens. Follow the signs. If you are driving to the gig, we recommend parking your car on Dulwich Road or near Dulwich Road. Entrance and exit from the Park should be via the Park’s Lido Gates on Dulwich Road.
