Declaring Independence USA 250 is an exhibition at the British Museum in London, opening on 7 November 2026. The exhibition explores the impact of the American Revolution on Indigenous Nations through historical objects. Admission details are not specified.
**🥁A story of independence, alliances and untold perspectives.** 🇺🇸The American Revolution is often remembered as a defining moment in the pursuit of freedom. But what about the Indigenous Nations whose lands, lives and futures were deeply affected by the conflict? This thought-provoking exhibition explores the shifting alliances between Indigenous communities, British forces and American revolutionaries, through fascinating historical objects, including the remarkable Washington Peace Medal and a rare handwritten copy of the Declaration of Independence. An opportunity to look beyond the familiar story and discover another perspective on America’s founding. [More info on the museum’s event page here.](https://www.britishmuseum.org/exhibitions/declaring-independence-usa-250) **We will meet outside the exhibition room and will wait about 10mins for people to arrive.** **The exhibition is free and no booking is required.** We will explore the exhibit for about 40mins then head to a nice cafe inside the museum or nearby for socialising ☕️ Everyone welcome 🙂 Important to Note: 1. We typically socialise at cafés after the exhibit, nice, independent ones, not chains and not at pubs. If the event is late on a Saturday we go to a nice bar/pub for drinks after. This meetup is inclusive and everyone is welcome to join. 1. If you get there before everyone and you’re not sure what to do or where we are, post a comment on here and I will let you know our whereabouts. 1. Once we go in we may separate, feel free to explore the exhibit by yourself, we don’t have to be together. Some people like chatting to others while exploring and other people prefer to be with their own thoughts. You are welcome to express yourself and do whatever feels comfortable. 1. If you are late or if you’ve booked for an earlier or later time don’t worry just go in and you’ll find us inside. Keep an eye on the comments as I’ll be posting updates.
