Celebrated for blending the rich musical traditions of his Caribbean roots with the harmonic depth and improvisational spirit of modern jazz, Leon has developed a vibrant sound that is entirely his own. A winner of the World Steelband Music Festival Soloist and Duet competitions, he has been described by critics as “the next big thing on his instrument”, “an enthralling improviser” and “masterful with impeccable musicianship”. Across an impressive career, Leon has collaborated with some of the biggest names in jazz and beyond, including Hugh Masekela, Randy Brecker, John Beasley, Vince Mendoza, Mino Cinelu, Ky-Mani Marley and Dolly Parton. His music has taken him to world-renowned stages including Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York, the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami and Moscow’s International House of Music.
