A guided walk of London's greatest ever downpour
Guided walk meeting at Golders Hill Park NW11 opposite the Bull & Bush Public House
Led by Lester Hillman
Our walk explores the tiny epicentre of London's greatest downpour ever, yet one we might never have realised! It happened half a century ago and major engineering works followed. There was remrkable luck in the recording of this extreme event and in its measurement. An Elizabethan farm house survives alongside ghostly echoes from a tube station that never was. Cryptic messages from ancient Greece add to the surprises!
Allow 90 minutes. The Extreme Weather walk will finish near the start point Golders Hill Park and the Bull and Bush PH, convenient for amenities, refreshments and onward travel. Children welcome and this is a pet friendly event. Numbers limited (20 max).
