UK PREMIERE Guts  Dir. Patrizia Bruno What happens when you abandon rules, roles, and logic to follow your guts? Surfers Patrizia and Marie left everything behind to embark on a five-month, 20,000 km off-road journey from France to Guinea-Bissau with an old car, four surfboards, and a mission: to capture the stories of inspiring women redefining their place in society across Northwest Africa.   Meeting the likes of Morocco’s first female mountain guide, a women’s rights activist in Nouakchott and the young surf collective in Dakar, it’s a celebration of just what happens when women break free of conventions. A raw and empowering adventure, it’s a call to embrace fears and dare to listen to your guts until the very end of the road.   UK PREMIERE Nio Ko Bokk  Dir. David Clancy NIO KO BOKK taken from the Wolof phrase for “what we share belongs to all of us” follows Pape and Seydi, two young Senegalese surfers who find purpose and community in the ocean, choosing a different path than the perilous journeys many peers take in search of opportunity abroad. Through their story, this essential film explores how finding belonging at home can be as powerful as the promise of elsewhere.     The evening is accompanied by The Shorties shortlisted films – the very best short films from homegrown filmmakers.
