A chance to explore the many layers and angles of the 2000 year history of the City of London

So much history has transpired in the Square Mile: until the 16th century virtually all of London was contained in this small area. But it can be hard to understand and get a sense of this: so much has been removed over time. After the Romans the city was uninhabited: the Great Fire destroyed about two-thirds of it, the Blitz a similar amount: the Victorians replaced the majority of the buildings.

So it needs a bit of searching and some guidance to be able to understand the story of the place: this Walking Tour aims to do this, taking you round the familiar sights and many less familiar to give you a lively and full understanding of the history of this great place.
