About Into The Woods

Into The Woods is Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s musical, now transferring to the West End after a critically acclaimed run at The Bridge Theatre. Directed by Jordan Fein, with set and costume design by Tom Scutt, this production brings the fairytale characters into one interwoven story.

The show follows the Baker and his wife, a Witch with a curse, a boy and his cow, a girl in a red cloak, a maiden with long flowing hair and a servant covered in cinders as they journey into the woods. Wishes are made, slippers are lost and beanstalks take flight, as the story moves beyond “Happily ever after”.

From the search for the king to the wish to lift a spell, the production explores what comes after the familiar fairytale endings. It is a new West End staging of a much-loved musical, with a clear focus on the characters’ journeys through the woods and beyond.

Before you book

Suitable for ages 12 and over. Everyone, regardless of age, must have their own ticket to enter the theatre. Children under 16 must be accompanied by and sat next to a ticket holder aged 18 or over. Children under 3 will not be admitted.

This production contains haze, loud noises, flashing lights and strobe effects that may affect audience members sensitive to light. There are also periods of absolute darkness in the auditorium, and you are asked to remain in your seats during this time. Latecomers may not be admitted until a suitable break in the performance.
