You’re part of the engineering team responsible for defending it. Can you demonstrate that the system behaved as it should? In this interactive talk, we’ll put an AI-assisted lending decision on trial. We’ll hear from the teams involved, examine the evidence they can provide, and see whether it’s enough to defend what happened. Along the way, we’ll explore why a system can appear to work correctly while important questions about responsibility, human oversight and accountability remain unanswered. **Build or Buy** *Eshwari Chandrashekhar, Engineering Manager at MONY Group* Drawing on my own experiences working in a scale-up environment, this talk explores the build-versus-buy decision through three lenses: technology, people and business. We’ll look at the trade-offs involved, from long-term technical ownership and engineering capability to delivery speed, cost, business priorities and the impact on teams. **Build fulfilling work environments in the era of hyperproductivity*
