About This Event

MicroActs presents Curiosity Cabinet will screen a collection of short experimental films from around the world on 24 September 2026 at Eastway Baths in Hackney Wick. This evening of cinematic storytelling explores themes ranging from global narratives to personal fables, offering an immersive experience within the historic venue's distinctive atmosphere. Viewers are invited to witness these miniature works of art before they leave the screen in 2026. Ticket prices are available on the official website.

You’re invited to open the ‘Curiosity Cabinet’, a night of unique & unusual experimental film from around the world, both delightful and macabre. With techniques ranging from stop motion wooden animation, claymation, digital dancing, 16mm analogue film, camcorder video and more, ‘Curiosity Cabinet’ has something new for everyone. We’re excited to share with you this collection of short films coming from 16 countries across 5 continents - expect CGI bones, paper cutout bugs, extravagant makeup, and abstract atmospheres!

We’re delighted to be back at the wonderful Eastway Baths in Hackney Wick, for our Autumn 2026 edition of MicroActs - we'll be showcasing this fantastic collection of films in The Hall of this community hub in East London!

Join us on Thursday 24th September at 7pm for an evening of experimental short films, each 6mins or less, from an international & UK based lineup of filmmakers. This programme features films from 5 continents, including Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Italy, Republic of Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, Tunisia, UK, Ukraine & USA. Whether you’re a film lover or filmmaker, a creative, or simply curious, MicroActs is a film night not to be missed!

MicroActs creates low-cost & accessible film events that showcase independent artists/filmmakers from around the world and champions the weird and wonderful. Discover the extraordinary genre of Artist Film in a welcoming space and connect with the MicroActs community. You can expect an evening of short films that defy genre and create conversations; exploring diverse themes such as cultural heritage, personal experience, queer identity, political activism & the absurd. We look forward to seeing you at our third edition of the year and sharing a thought-provoking programme of shorts.

7.30pm Artist Film Programme Begins

Open till 10pm

Our Short Film Programme will be presented in 2 parts of approximately 40 minutes in each section, there will be a 20 min interval between halves.

To keep our accessible screenings going, we’ll be moving to a donation ticket model to help support these nights. We are proud to be a low cost event, all donations go back into keeping these screenings running and keeping them open to all, donations can be as low as £1 and any donation is greatly appreciated. About the Venue:

Eastway Baths, Hackney Wick

Eastway Baths is a cultural and community hub based in a historic Victorian bathhouse in Hackney Wick, London. The venue brings together a café, event spaces, studios and community facilities to support a diverse ecosystem of artists, practitioners, local residents and small businesses.

Each week the space hosts a wide range of activities including cultural events, workshops, performances, wellbeing sessions, community gatherings and creative programmes. With thousands of visitors passing through the building regularly, Eastway Baths has become an active meeting point for the local neighbourhood and a platform for independent cultural production.

The nearest train stations are Hackney Wick overground station (0.5 miles), approximately 12 min walk. Routes from Hackney Wick station to the venue consist of level access enabled by dropped kerbs; however tactile paving/detectable warning surfaces are limited.

Accessibility Information:

The café/bar space is wheelchair accessible via a platform lift. Please use the doorbell on the grey doors to the right of our main entrance to call a member of staff, who will bring the lift down and open the wheelchair accessible door.
