In this special cook school class taught by chef Ranie Saidi, you’ll learn the skills, techniques, and flavours behind Malaysian home cooking, straight from his grandma’s kitchen. This class is being held exclusively at Borough Kitchen Battersea as part of the 2026 Battersea Power Station celebrASIA South East Asian Food & Culture Festival. Join for a special, limited-edition cook school class led by chef Ranie Saidi, London-based recipe developer and founder of The Malay Cook supper club. His cookbook, The Malay Cook, adapts traditional Malaysian flavours to what is easily available in the UK, without compromising authenticity. His method is based on a practice called agak-agak in Malaysia – where you are encouraged to taste as you go, gaining an instinct for the balance of Malaysian flavours (sweet, sour, salty, spicy, creamy, aromatic, nutty, pungent) rather than following recipes to the letter. In this class, Ranie teaches us the skills and techniques behind Malaysian recipes he learned in his grandmother’s kitchen. You’ll leave with the confidence to cook Malaysian food at home and expand your culinary repertoire. This class includes a Q-and-A with Ranie over dinner, and a glass of wine. Age Restriction: 18+ Allergies & Diets: Will be confirmed closer to date. Adaptations: This class is naturally vegetarian, and can be adapted for gluten-free diets. Due to the nature of the event, this class is not suitable for vegan, nut-free, or any other diets. This class is kosher-fr
