Your instructors, Louisa and Gintare, are experienced stitching teachers at the Fashion Technology Academy in Islington, which specialises in technical skills training for garment manufacturing, including stitching, production, and pattern cutting.

What You’ll Learn:

Day 1: Foundations of Industrial Sewing

Understanding the anatomy of industrial sewing machines.

Safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of common issues.

Threading, bobbin winding, and mastering stitch tension on a flatbed.

Practising straight lines, curves, and corners for precision sewing.

Day 2: Exploring Fabric and Techniques

Introduction to various fabrics and their handling characteristics.

Threading industrial overlockers.

Accurately cut shapes from cloth and practice using the overlockers.

Applying practical techniques to construct a simple garment (i.e. a baby T-shirt).

Adding finishing details such as binding and pockets.

Practising speed control and precision for professional-quality results.
