About RENT

RENT is playing at the Duke of York’s Theatre in the West End. Jonathan Larson’s musical returns thirty years after it redefined musical theatre, in a new production directed by Luke Sheppard and starring Gaten Matarazzo as Mark.

Inspired by Puccini’s La Bohème, RENT tells a story shaped by joy, uncertainty and resilience. It focuses on a generation trying to make every moment count, with themes of community and connection at its centre.

The show features a score and story that continue to resonate with audiences.

Age guidance: RENT is recommended for ages 14+. It contains themes of HIV/AIDS, bereavement, drug use, suicide, sex and sex work, as well as strong language.
