Sanctuary & Soil is a space created specifically for Black women. Each session includes hands-on gardening activities, a short teaching on a herb, health condition, or body system, and unstructured time to simply breathe and enjoy being in a green space. Whether you're curious about plant medicine, want to connect with other Black women, or just need somewhere to decompress, this space is for you.

What to bring:

Weather appropriate clothing you don't mind getting dirty, sturdy footwear, and a water bottle and cup or mug for tea. Gloves and tools are provided.

Who are we?

The Abeng Garden is a Black women-led space dedicated to addressing health inequities through gardening, food growing, herbal medicine, and holistic health education.

Accessibility:

There is a toilet onsite. We are working towards making the space wheelchair accessible, and also working towards making the garden accessible for children. If you have any other access needs, please get in touch - theabenggarden@gmail.com.

Parking:

Parking on Delaraine Street is free on Saturdays and is on a first come first serve basis. There is space for approx 5-6 cars. We cannot reserve parking.
