Jazz vocalist Sarah L King returns to Hampstead Jazz Club for a very special show, sharing some of her favourite jazz standards, beautiful ballads, and sophisticated and soulful original songs from both her acclaimed albums. Fresh from her Stockholm tour and accompanied by the fabulous Rob Barron on piano, King offers her pure-toned melodic sound and a magnetic stage presence in this intimate show that’s not to be missed! Sarah L King started singing in soul and gospel choirs before emerging as a jazz vocalist and composer. Influenced from an early age by her father, a jazz trumpeter and bandleader, King had a creative career in scriptwriting and filmmaking before her love of music took centre stage. Her acclaimed original albums ' Fire Horse ' (2024) and ' The Light Ahead ' (2026) are both produced by Claire Martin OBE (ECN Music), and feature regularly on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio London and Jazz FM, including live radio performances from King. Citing Joni Mitchell and Roberta Flack as early influences, King can deftly deliver a swingin’ jazz standard, as well as effortlessly convey emotional depth in her pure-toned vocals. A rising voice on the London jazz circuit, fresh from her Stockholm tour and with regular sold-out shows at Hampstead including last years EFG London Jazz Festival, King has deservedly catapulted onto the UK jazz scene and beyond. " Sarah L King has a voice to luxuriate in; intimate, expressive and beautifully nuanced, and yet equally tough and compelling as a natural storyteller. ” - Nick Lea, Jazz views “ There’s a breezy, upbeat tone, an easy swing to her vocals, but it’s King’s songwriting that really stands out. ” - Kevin Whitlock, UK Jazz News “ Thought provoking, tender and sophisticated lyrics set to soulful jazz melodies that are fresh and well crafted.’ ” - Claire Martin OBE Rob Barron is a London based highly established pianist, arranger and composer, with a rich career playing with the best musicians around the world.
