About This Event

THE FIGHT TO BE HEARD documentary launch and panel will be hosted by Banseka Kayembe at Rich Mix in London on 30 September 2026. The event features a new film and discussion about protest and resistance.

Join us for a new film & conversation about protest; why we do it & how we resist those who threaten it. Hosted by Banseka Kayembe.

We are witnessing one of the most aggressive crackdowns on protest in UK history. From solidarity with Palestinians to climate change, gender justice to workers’ rights, the reasons why we protest may be different. But the need – and right – to be heard is universal.

The Fight to be Heard is a new documentary by Amnesty International UK that explores the human story behind protest, asking what it means to people and why we do it – despite the risks. Featuring testimony from activists from all over the UK and organisations such as Defend our Juries, Just Stop Oil, Black Lives Matter, Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Disabled People Against Cuts, Save British Farming, London Renters Union and more, this documentary - and accompanying new report - explores the current threats to protest and what happens when we come together to resist.

Join us for this exclusive first opportunity to watch this powerful film, followed by a panel discussion hosted by Banseka Kayembe (founder of Naked Politics) and featuring actor and activist Khalid Abdalla, Chantelle Lunt (Merseyside Alliance for Racial Equality), Lucia Whittaker De Abreu (Just Stop Oil / Whole Truth 5) and Amnesty UK CEO Kerry Moscogiuri.

The event will take place at Rich Mix cinema in Bethnal Green, London on Wednesday 30 September. Doors open at 6.45pm and the film will start at 7pm.

This event is suitable for people aged 16+ and under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
