About This Event

The Bridge Theatre presents The Oresteia, staging Aeschylus's monumental Greek tragedy in English translation alongside passages from the original language. This production delves into the profound myth surrounding vengeance and law, framing ancient themes of violence and justice for contemporary audiences on its tragic stage. Offering an educational exploration of these enduring narratives, the performance invites observers to witness the raw power of classical drama unfold before them. Tickets are available from £30.

About The Oresteia

The Oresteia at the Bridge Theatre in London is Simon Stone’s contemporary staging of the Greek myth. Stone is an acclaimed Australian theatre and film director known for radical reimaginings of classic works, including Yerma and Phaedra, and he also staged The Lady from the Sea at the Bridge Theatre last year.

The production follows a contemporary family that wakes up in a Greek myth and cannot seem to find a way out of its destiny. It presents the story in a modern setting while keeping the tragic framework at its centre.
