Discover Deptford's gorgeous high street, vibrant market, maritime history and the resting place of a murdered Elizabethan spy in its "secret" medieval church before following the river path to Greenwich on a guided walk. Once the stomping ground of Christopher Marlowe, Sir Francis Drake, Samuel Pepys and Admiral Nelson's mistress, Deptford has reinvented itself through waves of migration and an influx of young creatives who've infused it with fresh energy. Baroque and medieval architecture hides in the quieter streets, while the vibrant Victorian high street pulses with one of London's most eclectic street markets. After uncovering its secret history we will stroll by river towards Greenwich, ending our walk near the famous Cutty Sark tea clipper.
