Step into the ring. Wrestle Room opens at Atom Gallery on Friday 9 October with a free private view, 6–9pm.

This group exhibition brings together more than twenty artists to celebrate the sequins, sweat and Saturday-afternoon theatre of British wrestling's golden age. You know, the world of Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks, Mick McManus and Kendo Nagasaki.

Leading the bill is Sir Peter Blake, the pop art legend behind the Sgt. Pepper's cover, showing prints from his Wrestlers set, alongside musician-artist Luke Haines (The Auteurs), comedian and artist Phill Jupitus, Heath Kane, Ryca, Haus of Lucy and many more. Each artist was handed one brief: think outside the ring.

The event marks the official release of a new limited-edition Kendo Nagasaki print. At a later date (tbc) we'll be hosting a signing ceremony by the masked legend himself. Plus, Luke Haines will be performing at Atom Gallery, of his cult album 9½ Psychedelic Meditations on British Wrestling (date TBC).

All work will be for sale at the event, in the gallery and online.
