SATURDAY PROGRAMME

Performances

Auris welcomes internationally acclaimed sound artist Francisco López with ABSOLUTE SONIC CREATURES, an intense and immersive sound experience combining blindfolds and multichannel sound.

Lee Patterson’s Terrain turns our attention to the hidden sounds of everyday materials, using self-built microphones and amplified objects. While acclaimed Deaf performer Signkid, aka Kevin Walker, brings BSL and UK Sign Slang into live Hip-Hop, Rap, and Urban music.

Talks & Workshops

Explore sound from unexpected perspectives with Rubbish Music duo Kate Carr and Iain Chambers, who examine the sonic possibilities of waste and the art of listening to what is discarded, and composer Matt Barnard investigates the acoustic qualities of abandoned spaces through impulse responses.

Markus Hetheier leads a soundwalk exploring Manchester’s queer histories through the city’s sonic landscape, and throughout the day Dorkbot Manchester and KMR Audio host participatory sessions, inviting audiences to get hands-on with live electronic instruments and interfaces.

Installations

Explore immersive sound installations on display across the festival: Wajid Yaseen's Seven Sisters, a participatory sound installation incorporating vintage test oscillators; and Kamila Narysheva and Vicky Clarke's T ½ Half Life, examining post-nuclear landscapes through sound and field recordings from Semipalatinsk Polygon.

Spatial Audio

A curated spatial audio listening programme runs alongside the day's live events, featuring recorded work from Brona Martin, Text-Sound-Art, Miko Tchórzewski, Markus Decker, Bernard Kelly, Totaleee, Nye Parry, Cameron Taylor, Scald, Horse Lords, Arconic Sound, Jose Macabra, and Mick Harris.
