FRIDAY PROGRAMME

Performances

Experience Nik Colk Void’s solo performance, presented in Manchester for the very first time, bringing together voice, beats, synthesis and real-time sample manipulation. Robin The Fog presents Cast Your Tape To The Wind, a beautifully messy hybrid of sound installation and performance, using Howlround reel-to-reel machines.

Talks & Workshops

Auris' workshop programme opens with Foley Nights, a participatory workshop where the audience becomes the sound designers for the screen, or explore vibration, frequency and visual patterns in Mark Wagner's Cymatics workshop.

Hannah Kemp-Welch introduces The Listening Glossary, defining the language of sound and the many ways of listening, and The Manchester Ear duo, Hayley Suviste and Ryan Woods, undertake a deep listening walk along Manchester's canals and waterways.

Throughout the day, Dorkbot Manchester and KMR Audio host participatory sessions, inviting audiences to get hands-on with live electronic instruments and interfaces.

Installations

Explore immersive sound installations on display across the festival: Wajid Yaseen's Seven Sisters, a participatory sound installation incorporating vintage test oscillators; and Kamila Narysheva and Vicky Clarke's T ½ Half Life, examining post-nuclear landscapes through sound and field recordings from Semipalatinsk Polygon.

Spatial Audio

A curated spatial audio listening programme runs alongside the day's live events, featuring recorded work from Brona Martin, Text-Sound-Art, Miko Tchórzewski, Markus Decker, Bernard Kelly, Totaleee, Nye Parry, Cameron Taylor, Scald, Horse Lords, Arconic Sound, Jose Macabra, and Mick Harris.
