About This Event

A women-only hiking challenge will depart from Manor Park Car Park in Manchester on 27 September 2026 at 06:45. Participants will complete a 22.5km route passing three trig points and wreck sites to raise funds for Mummy's Star. The cost is £35.00.

Take in 3 trig points, 2 wreck sites, classic Dark Peak moorland and sweeping vistas on this 22.5km hike to raise money for Mummy's Star

Take on this unique Peak District challenge hike and raise vital funds for Mummy's Star.

Starting and finishing in Glossop, this 22.5km / 14 mile circular route takes in three of the area’s iconic trig points (our “three peaks” of Glossop, though we actually take in five summits!), expansive Dark Peak moorland, two plane crash sites including the poignant Bleaklow B-29 Superfortress crash site and some of the finest views the Peak District has to offer.

Expect remote landscapes, sweeping views, rugged, off-path terrain and an enormous sense of achievement waiting at the finish.

Whether you're walking in support of someone affected by cancer in pregnancy, in memory of a loved one, or simply looking to challenge yourself for a fantastic cause, we'd love you to join us. Please be sure to read the full event details and Mummy's Star fundraising targets below.

This challenge is open to all women, including cisgender and transgender women, and non-binary people who feel comfortable participating in such a group.

Distance: 14 miles/22km

Ascent: 2330ft (710m)

Duration: Will depend on group pace, but allow 10 hours

Difficulty: Challenging – due to the distance and the off-path / open moorland terrain, a decent level of fitness is recommended. See below for more info on the nature of the hike and the terrain.

Parking: We’ll meet at Manor Park car park in Glossop, Corn St, SK13 7RP: https://maps.app.goo.gl/4UgwjorXUcSkBswL7?g_st=ic

Toilets: There are public toilets in the park, which are open from 8am.

Dogs: Due to the more challenging nature of this hike, no dogs allowed this time.

Safety:

You are responsible for your own health and safety and with all outdoor activities, there can be risks involved. If you are unsure as to whether you are fit to come on this walk, please either consult your doctor or let us know your concerns. Please inform us of any medical conditions prior to the walk. The Route

Our circular route climbs onto the high moors above Glossop, taking in:

Cock Hill Trig Point (official Peak number 1!)

Bleaklow Head

The Bleaklow B-29 Superfortress crash site

Higher Shelf Stones Trig Point (official Peak number 2!)

The Pennine Way

Mill Hill

The B24 Liberator crash site

Harry Hut Trig Point (official Peak number 3!)

before descending back into Glossop. Along the way, providing the weather is on our side, you'll experience sweeping moorland panoramas, remote peat plateaus, fascinating local history and the unique beauty of the Dark Peak.

Is this challenge for me?

This is a challenging full-day hike suitable for people with a good level of fitness and some previous walking experience.

You'll be covering 22.5km / 14 miles across varied terrain, including long stretches of open moorland. The route includes some sections of sustained climbing, uneven ground, and some short off-path areas where the terrain can become particularly boggy depending on recent weather. There is a section along Clough Edge which some walkers can find a little exposed but there is only a very short section where the path is a little narrow/eroded.

While there are regular opportunities to stop, we'll maintain a steady group pace throughout the day to ensure we complete the route safely within daylight hours.

If you're comfortable walking for a full day in the hills and are looking for a rewarding challenge, this event is for you.

Terrain

Expect a varied day on the hill, including:

Well-maintained paths

Rocky and uneven trails

Open moorland

Peat and boggy ground

Short off-path sections

The Peak District's weather can change quickly, and conditions underfoot may be significantly wetter than expected, particularly across the high moors.
