Mike Coles will host a graphic voyage at INNSIDE Manchester in Manchester on November 15, 2026. The event is a graphic voyage of art, design, and independence. The price for the event ranges from £10.46 to £12.62.
From Killing Joke & The Orb to the Church of Bleeding Gums. Mike Coles takes us on a graphic voyage of art, design & stubborn independence.
Join Mike Coles, founder of Malicious Damage Records, creator of the iconic record sleeves and posters of Killing Joke, The Orb, Mark Stewart, Ski Patrol, Wau Recordings and many others, for a visual talk through his life's work.
Mike's design and adaptation of Don McCullen's photo of kids playing in the Bogside in Derry to include the words 'Killing Joke' painted on the wall and the processed to be a stark black and white image has become iconic and central to the idea of post punk in the 1980s, and the work of the band.
His work has been an ever present for Killing Joke and more recently The Orb, and his ability to provide an image that really conveys jarring, political and evocative imagery is incredible.
Mike's book showcases that work and the DIY spirit that has been a key part of his approach over 5 decades. Work that has been continuously evolving and generating unforgettable imagery.
Having his art up on screens at the Royal Albert Hall for what turned out to be Killing Jokes final gig was a highlight for Mr Coles but his work will continue being inspirational for many designers and artists.
This book represents that spirit, integrity and artist’s eye.
Copies of Mike's book will be for sale at the Festival and there'll be a dedicated book signing after his event.
About Mike Coles:
Mike is an artist and designer living in London working with paint, pixels, paper and glue. He also makes clocks that go backwards.
