Domestic Servants at 62 Nelson Street - a talk at the Pankhurst Museum

While the Pankhurst women are the most famous occupants of 62 Nelson Street, there were two other women living in the house at the time the WSPU (later known as the suffragettes) was founded - two domestic servants named Mary and Ellen.

Who were Mary and Ellen? And what would their life have been like at 62 Nelson Street?

Using primary sources and original research, our Heritage Manager uncovers the real lives of these overlooked women and explores life under stairs in the Edwardian period.
