About This Event

On 11 September 2026 at Ormesby Hall in Middlesbrough, staff and volunteers will be available to discuss collection preservation work. The event is free to attend.

Come along and speak to our specially trained staff and volunteers about the meticulous work they carry out all year round to protect the collections in our care.

You can discover how they look after our textiles and ceramics, as well as detailed information on how we protect the house and the furniture from bugs.

The specially trained book conservation volunteers will also be demonstrating how they carefully clean the books, giving a rare opportunity to see some of the book collection up close.

The house is open from 10.30am – 3.45pm on the day, with Conservation in action taking place between 10.30am – 1.30pm. No booking is required for this event. Free entry as part of Heritage Open Days.
